  • Berry Brow Estate – Security making an impact
The Berry Brow Estate in Kirklees, Huddersfield had long suffered from issues like crime and anti-social behaviour until the local Three Star Arms Length Management Organisation (ALMO) decided a new approach to security was needed. Five years ago, a British Security Industry Association member was brought in and this led to a sea change in the situation on site, resulting in a vastly improved living environment for the residents of the estate's 194 flats. So how did the transformation take effect and what do the stakeholders involved feel about the initiative?
  • Operation Outlook
One BSIA member worked with Gloucestershire police as part of the Operation Outlook team under ‘Gloucestershire Water Emergency 2007’, which was put together in immediate response to the flooding which occurred in July 2007. ‘Operation Outlook’ co-ordinated the strategic and tactical responses of all agencies involved. Following a decision to shut off the local water supply after it became contaminated, the team was able to provide essential services which allowed over 140 police officers to be deployed to other vital roles, whilst not hindering the progress of the overall operation.
