New chairman for BSIA Civil Aviation Security Section

The British Security Industry Association's Civil Aviation Security Section has elected its first chairman, Martin Aggar, Managing Director of G4S Aviation Security (UK) Ltd. The section encompasses BSIA members that provide products and services to the aviation sector.

Martin Aggar comments: "I am delighted to have been elected as chairman of the section. With the ongoing terrorist threat and more and more security regulations being enforced on air travel, the private security industry is playing an increasingly important role in securing UK airports and airlines. The Civil Aviation Security Section has pooled the expertise of BSIA's existing members which work in this vital area, and will focus on exchanging best practice, building relationships with key industry bodies and developing standards."

David Dickinson, BSIA Chief Executive, says: "The Civil Aviation Security Section represents the true diversity of the BSIA's membership with companies from the electronic and security guarding sectors working together on common issues. In this sector more than most, the private security industry is playing an essential part in protecting the lives of the public. With such important work to do, and under Martin's leadership, I'm sure that the section will go from strength to strength."
