Many of these businesses, embracing the challenges and opportunities arising from fast-changing markets and technologies, have extended their local successes to overseas markets.
The BSIA supports these UK companies through its Export Council, which provides information on export issues and valuable networking opportunities. The Export Council works in close partnership with UK Trade & Investment. The section also has regular contact with commercial officers at UK embassies, and organises trade missions and attendance at overseas exhibitions. Other major activities include the International Visitors Lounge at IFSEC (the annual fire and security exhibition and conference held in Birmingham) where overseas visitors can gain an overview of potential suppliers. There are also opportunities for UK exporters to meet with missions brought over by UKT&I, to network and to socialise.
