Who's Who within BSIA

Council

Lord Condon of Langton Green QPM DL, President
was appointed President of the Association after a long and distinguished career in the police service. He served as Chief Constable of Kent Police and was Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police from 1993 to 2000. Awarded the Queen's Police Medal in 1989, he was knighted in 1994 and became an independent life peer of the House of Lords in 2001. Lord Condon is a staunch supporter of the private security industry and is keen to enhance its relationship with the wider policing family.
Adam Wiseberg, Chairman
was elected by the BSIA Council to serve as Chairman of the Association for a two year term from July 2006. He chairs the BSIA Council and the General Purposes Committee. Adam has been an active member of the BSIA CCTV Section for 8 years and was its Chairman from 2001 until July 2006. He has been the driving force behind the development of landmark standards such as BS 8418 for detector activated CCTV, occupying the Chair of the BSI committee for CCTV Standards since 2001 and is currently an active member of the Cenelec Committee for European CCTV Standards.
Stuart Lowden, Vice-Chairman
Provides a supporting role to the Chairman of the Association and was elected by the BSIA Council to serve as Vice-Chairman of the Association for a one year term from July 2007.

Executive

David Dickinson, Chief Executive
is responsible for all the services and activities of the BSIA, including member services, technical and quality matters, administration, design, police liaison, communications and PR. He maintains a high level of contact with government, civil servants, overseas bodies, and is heavily involved in industry regulatory activities.
Pauline Coombes, Personal Assistant
is responsible for providing secretarial support and administration services to the Chief Executive, which involves liaison with members, end-users and industry stakeholders.

Administration and Accounts

Tim Thomas, Director of Administration and Legal Services
is responsible for the management of BSIA Accounts/Administration including formulation of and compliance to Section Rules, co-ordination of all external agreements and contracts, and in addition provides wide ranging legal support on issues such as licensing, data protection and compliance.
Alan Barwell, Company Secretary & IT Manager
is responsible for the membership's compliance with the Association's constitution in addition to the recording and preparation of financial and management accounts, financial statistics, website development and installing and maintaining the Association's computer hardware and software.
Rosemary Nicholas, Meetings & Membership Administrator
is responsible for maintenance of the members' database and membership list, and administration of section activities (including meetings, committee elections etc.) in accordance with the bye-laws.
Lynn Hodges, Administration Co-ordinator
is responsible for processing potential member applications, processing orders for BSIA publications, updating the marketing database, answering general enquiries from members and end-users, and providing general administrative support.

PR and Marketing Communications

Kiri Gray, PR and Marketing Communications Manager
is responsible for fostering positive public relations with internal and external audiences. This includes managing media and PR strategy, media liaison and the press office function, internal communications to members, external communications to end-users and other organisations, public affairs, publications and the website. Kiri is also responsible for co-ordinating the work of the BSIA PR committees and representing the Association on crime reduction partnerships.
Naomi Ocansey, Public Relations Officer
is responsible for handling media enquiries, co-ordinating publicity work via the BSIA PR committees, writing copy for press releases, newsletters and articles, collating media cuttings and evaluation.

Graphics & Design

Debbie Delord, Graphics & Design Manager
is responsible for managing the design and production of all printed material and in-house publications, flyers, digital presentations and graphic panels. She also co-ordinates print buying for the Association.
Stephen Ranford, Graphic Designer
is responsible for assisting with the design and production of all printed material and in-house publications, flyers, digital presentations and graphic panels.

Events

Elaine Hercombe, Events Manager
is responsible for the planning and coordination of all the Association's events and for the successful marketing of them. She also manages the administrative and costing processes associated with events.
Christine Brooks, Marketing Services Executive
is responsible for advertising sales and sponsorship for the Association. She manages the Security Officer, Apprentice Installer and Chairman's Awards and assists in the organisation of events.

Police Liaison

Dick Hanks, National Co-ordinator
is responsible for liaison between BSIA Cash and Valuables in Transit section members and the police forces regarding cash-in-transit (CIT) attacks and related crime statistics and supporting police initiatives and operations. This includes the collection and analysis of CIT attack intelligence, the preparation of detailed reports and the organisation of police liaison meetings.

Technical, Quality and Membership

Alex Carmichael, Director of Technical and Membership Services
is responsible for coordinating all technical, quality and membership matters within the Association. These duties include developing codes of practice and guidelines for all sections of the BSIA; coordinating product testing and certification issues; coordinating BSIA members comments on draft British and European standards; acting as representative on various UK and European standards committees: acting as UK representative on various Cenelec and Euralarm committees monitoring EU Directives that impact BSIA members. He is also responsible for membership liaison within the BSIA and liaison with potential BSIA members. He works closely with other industry organisations such as ABI, ACPO, ACPOS and Inspectorates on technical and any other issues that may affect BSIA members.
Julie Southcombe, Quality Manager and Technical Co-ordinator
is responsible for managing the BSIA quality system including carrying out internal audits; acts as PA to the TQM Director; assists the BSIA Technical officers in production of standards; manages the BSIA complaints department; acts as department co-ordinator for all reports, standards or technical papers; she is also responsible for answering technical enquiries to the department.
Jim Grove, Technical Officer
is responsible for the technical requirements of the following BSIA sections: Security Guarding, Police and Public Services, Information Destruction, Cash and Property Marking and Physical Security. He co-ordinates BSIA working groups in developing BSIA Codes of Practice and Guidelines, representing BSIA on European and British Standards committees and ensuring a good technical liaison with member companies and other organisations.
Dave Wilkinson, Technical Officer
is responsible for the technical requirements of the following BSIA sections: Security Systems, CCTV, Access Control, SEDS, and Security Equipment Manufacturers. He co-ordinates BSIA working groups in developing BSIA Codes of Practice and Guidelines, representing BSIA on European and British Standards committees and ensuring a good technical liaison with member companies and other organisations.
Daren Wood, Northern Regional General Manager
is responsible for the BSIA northern region, including meetings, membership and any issues that affect his regional member companies. He is responsible for the technical requirements of the BSIA Security Consultancies Section and BSIA Associates. He is also responsible for a number of projects including liaison with the Armed Forces resettlement agency.
Chris Pinder, Southern Regional General Manager & Export Manager
is responsible for the BSIA southern region, including meetings, membership and any issues that affect his regional member companies. He is responsible for a number of projects including the Civil Aviation Security Section and is the main contact for liaison with Jobcentre Plus and the electrical contractor's Joint Industry Board. Chris is also the Export Manager with the responsibility for the BSIA Export Council which includes liaison with UK Trade & Investment.
Caroline Strickley, Export Services Executive
is responsible for the organisation and administration of the BSIA Export Council as well as Overseas Associate members and other promotional services for exporters. This involves close liaison with UK Trade and Investment staff in the UK and overseas, as well as Peter Nicholls, Overseas Exhibitions Manager. She is responsible for the Export newsletter and Security UK, the BSIA publication that goes to all British embassies.
John Taylor, Scottish Regional Executive
is responsible for membership liaison in Scotland.
Peter Nicholls, Overseas Exhibitions Co-ordinator
is responsible for the management of groups of UK companies participating in international security trade fairs and British embassy events. This includes liaison with UKT&I over matters concerning Government funding of exhibitions.

Olympics Project

David Evans, Project Director - 2012
is responsible for focusing the work of the Association for the 2012 Olympic Games. His role involves fostering an environment whereby BSIA members are recognised as the leading resource for private security services in the UK and ensuring that BSIA members are fully aware of the opportunities available to them.
