Upgrade to an integrated system - D S Smith

A BSIA member worked with D S Smith, an international packaging, producer and manufacturing company who employ 12,000 people, 7,600 of which are in the UK, to provide a comprehensive security and time & attendance system that would be an upgrade of their existing manual system and which could provide an automated Fire Roll Call facility. The BSIA company was able to provide a suitable upgraded system for a competitive price.

When asked what he likes most about the system, Chris Stearne, D S Smith Factory Manager, commented: “It’s very easy to maintain and the backup from the supplier is superb. Essentially, the system is simple to use – especially the Smart Cards. The Fire Call system is tested once a month, but fortunately they have never had to use it. We have also used the BSIA members Help Desk on a number of occasions,” explained Chris. “We found the service to be very helpful indeed.”

When asked if he would recommend the BSIA company, Chris replied: “Yes. I have already done so on several occasions.” Summing up, Chris concluded: “The system fulfilled all promises – the BSIA company did exactly what we wanted and the system does exactly what they said it would do.”
