Integrated security system - Hagemayer

A BSIA member worked with Hagemayer to provide an access control system that would segregate access within their building and also provide time recording for staff.

Hagemeyer is a value added business-to-business (B2B) distribution services group employing about 17,000 people worldwide. The group focuses on the markets of electrical materials, safety and other MRO (Maintenance Repair and Operations) products in Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific.

Operations Director, Matt Parsons, decided to choose a BSIA company to implement the new system, because: “They had an all-in-one solution and their Smart Cards were fast and effective.” Matt went on to say: “The all-in-one approach of the BSIA member and the slickness of the software were key contributing factors in selecting a system from them.” 

The BSIA company installed a combined smart card based access control and time and attendance system, including fire roll call at the Hagemeyer sites in Rothwell and a distribution centre in Milton Keynes. Around 600 people are employed at these two locations.
During the installation of the hardware a few problems regarding the suitability of door locks for UPVC doors and locations of some of the Push-to-Exit buttons occurred, but overall Matt Parsons was impressed with the quality of the installation and no problems were encountered during the software installation.

Although Matt feels Hagemeyer do not yet use the system to it’s full potential he is confident they will as they roll out the system within the group. When asked what he liked most about system he answered: “The system is very easy to use and the smart cards are excellent, easier and more reliable than magnetic stripe or bar coded cards.”

Hagemeyer are currently looking at extending their security system to their other eighteen sites within the UK. When asked what he liked most about the BSIA company, Matt said: “Generally the ease-of-use of the system but I particularly like how you can create and use the reporting tools within the application.”
