Property marking brings relief to elderly residents

Elderly residents at a sheltered housing complex in Oldham were relieved to see the return of their prized musical instruments after they were stolen in a break-in.

Two keyboards were taken during the burglary at St Mark’s Court but thanks to on-site CCTV footage, police officers were able to identity and arrest the thief who was a serial burglar known to them.

On hearing about the incident, one BSIA member visited the complex and offered to protect the keyboards and other electronic items by marking them with a forensic marking product.

St Mark’s Court Manager Christine Crossfield comments: “We are really pleased to have everything securely marked now, it is just the deterrent we need to warn burglars against entering the premises. If they know our property is marked, they will certainly think twice before risking it.”
