BSIA member installs IR reader at university

The University of the West of England (UWE) recognised that whilst it used various elements of access control across its campuses, it had no central control or coordination. Consequently, a BSIA member was approached to deliver their cost effective, robust solution to meet an extremely high-use and demanding environment.

Following the viewing of the university’s campuses, the BSIA member trialled its infrared (IR) readers in one block of UWE’s Frenchay Campus. Following the completion of a highly successful trial, installation spread to other buildings and, over a period of time, other campuses.

The readers are now in operation throughout five separate sites across Bristol and Gloucestershire, all of which are run from a central server, which is managed at Frenchay.
