Hospital protects IT equipment with the help of a BSIA member
Ealing Hospital worked with a BSIA member to forensically mark over 1,000 items of IT equipment as part of an ongoing initiative to prevent and deter theft.
The hospital is a busy district general hospital in west London and since introducing property marking there have been zero reported IT-related thefts in 18 months.
Jyoti Howe, IT Project Manager at the hospital, said: “We had a problem with expensive IT equipment being stolen from open access areas in the hospital, which were not always manned.”
“Patient records are only stored on the secure hospital servers, but certain non-confidential information can be downloaded onto the PCs, so it is important that they do not go missing. We have now marked over 1,000 items including PCs, laptops, monitors and printers.”
