Who's Who within BSIA

Council

Sir Keith Povey QPM BA, President
was appointed President of the BSIA on 15th July 2009 following an extensive police career culminating in his role as Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Constabulary. He has long been a keen supporter of the work of the private security industry and particularly the role of the BSIA. Sir Keith's experience within the police service gives him a valuable insight into the role the private security industry can play in supporting the police and other agencies in securing our communities.
Julie Kenny CBE DL, Chairman
was elected by the BSIA Council to serve as Chairman of the Association for a two year term from July 2010. She chairs the BSIA Council and the General Purposes Committee. Julie has long been a committed champion of the BSIA as a long-standing member of our Security Equipment Manufacturers Section.
Geoff Zeidler, Vice-Chairman
provides a supporting role to the Chairman of the Association and was elected by the BSIA Council to serve as Vice-Chairman of the Association from July 2011.
James Kelly, Chief Executive
is responsible for leading the team in undertaking all the services and activities of the BSIA including: member services, technical and quality matters, administration, design, events, communications and PR. He maintains a high level of contact with government, civil servants, overseas bodies, and is heavily involved in industry regulatory activities.

Administration and Accounts

Rosemary Nicholas, Meetings & Membership Administrator
is responsible for maintenance of the members' database and membership list, and administration of section activities (including meetings, committee elections etc.) in accordance with the bye-laws.
Lynn Hodges, Administration Co-ordinator
is responsible for processing potential member applications, processing orders for BSIA publications, updating the marketing database, answering general enquiries from members and end-users, and providing general administrative support.

PR and Marketing Communications

Amanda Beesley, PR and Marketing Communications Manager
is responsible for fostering positive public relations with internal and external audiences. This includes managing media and PR strategy, media liaison and the press office function, internal communications to members, external communications to end-users and other organisations, public affairs, publications and the website. Amanda is also responsible for co-ordinating the work of the BSIA PR committees and representing the Association on crime reduction partnerships.
Alessia Vinerba, Communications Executive
is responsible for handling media enquiries, co-ordinating publicity work via the BSIA PR committees, managing Public Affairs campaigns, writing copy for press releases, newsletters and articles, collating media cuttings and evaluation.
Stephen Ranford, Graphic Designer
is responsible for managing the design and production of all printed material and in-house publications, flyers, digital presentations and graphic panels. He also co-ordinates print buying for the Association.

Events

Christine Brooks, Marketing Services Executive
is responsible for coordinating the BSIA's presence at exhibitions, conferences and events, and also the Association's advertising sales and sponsorship programme. She manages the administration of the Security Personnel, Apprentice Installer and Chairman's Awards.

Manpower and Membership Services

Trevor Elliott, Director of Manpower and Membership Services
Trevor is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the manpower sections and related membership services. These include representing the membership on various Industry bodies and on European Committees. He also retains responsibility to develop and promote membership of the manpower-based sections to potential members and for membership liaison within the manpower sections of the BSIA.
Dick Hanks, Parking Services Manager
Dick is responsible for liaison with the BSIA's Cash and Valuables in Transit (CVIT) Section, with particular responsibility for Parking Charge Notices issued to CVIT vehicles whilst servicing customers.
Daren Wood, Membership Manager
is responsible for maintaining positive relations with BSIA members. He is responsible for member retention and recruitment, engaging with industry stakeholders and Associates to promote members' interests and raise awareness. He is also responsible for a number of projects including liaison with the Armed Forces resettlement agency.

Technical, Quality and Membership

Alex Carmichael, Director of Technical and Export Services
is responsible for coordinating all technicaland quality matters within the Association. These duties include acting as representative on various UK and European standards committees: acting as UK representative on various Cenelec and Euralarm committees monitoring EU Directives that impact BSIA members. He is also responsible for membership liaison within the BSIA's technical sections, and works closely with other industry organisations such as ABI, ACPO, ACPOS and Inspectorates on technical and any other issues that may affect BSIA members.
Julie Southcombe, Quality Manager
is responsible for managing the BSIA quality system including carrying out internal audits.
Dave Wilkinson, Technical Manager
is responsible for the technical requirements of the following BSIA sections: Security Systems, CCTV, Access Control, Security Equipment Distributors, and Security Equipment Manufacturers. He co-ordinates BSIA working groups in developing BSIA Codes of Practice and Guidelines, representing BSIA on European and British Standards committees and ensuring a good technical liaison with member companies and other organisations.
Paul Phillips, Technical Officer
is responsible for the technical requirements of the Physical Security Equipment, Security Consultancies and Cash & Property Marking Sections. In addition to this Paul assists the Technical Manager in supporting the technical requirements of the electronic sections. Paul's other duties include co-ordination of BSIA working groups in developing BSIA codes of practice and guidelines, representing BSIA on European and British Standards committees and ensuring good technical liaison with member companies and other organisations.
Kirstie Anwyl-Hughes, Technical Coordinator
is responsible for providing administration support to the technical officers, co-ordinating the technical work load, acting as proof reader for all technical documentations, managing the technical database, acting as focal point for all technical enquiries, carrying out quality internal audits and providing administration support to the Technical Director.
Caroline Strickley, Export Services Executive
is responsible for the organisation and administration of the BSIA Export Council as well as Overseas Associate members and other promotional services for exporters. This involves close liaison with UK Trade and Investment staff in the UK and overseas, as well as Peter Nicholls, Overseas Exhibitions Manager. She is responsible for the Export newsletter and Security UK, the BSIA publication that goes to all British embassies.
Peter Nicholls, Overseas Exhibitions Co-ordinator
is responsible for the management of groups of UK companies participating in international security trade fairs and British embassy events. This includes liaison with UKT&I over matters concerning Government funding of exhibitions.
William Clark, Scottish Regional Representative
is responsible for membership liaison in Scotland.

Olympics Project

David Evans, Project Director - 2012
is responsible for focusing the work of the Association for the 2012 Olympic Games. His role involves fostering an environment whereby BSIA members are recognised as the leading resource for private security services in the UK and ensuring that BSIA members are fully aware of the opportunities available to them.
