  The importance of CCTV images was demonstrated both for 7/7, where images of the perpetrators were obtained from Luton railway station, and for the aborted attack on 21/7, where the police were able to rapidly issue images of the alleged culprits captured on buses, tube trains and stations.

  One BSIA member's mobile CCTV system is helping to trap car thieves as part of a new Covert Capture Car initiative launched by Avon and Somerset Constabulary in the Bristol area, with the message that the next car that criminals break into could be a police car.

  Premier Waste (UK) Ltd has adopted a BSIA member's remotely monitored, detector activated, CCTV service to secure its extensive waste management and recycling site in Hyde, Greater Manchester. The facility hit the headlines in September 2007 when CCTV images were shown in the media of a teenager aiming what appeared to be an AK47 rifle from the adjacent Newton Railway Station.
• Mobile CCTV proves effective for Cumbria Police
  A BSIA member’s mobile CCTV technology is proving to be extremely effective for Cumbria Police. The system is being used to help tackle anti-social behaviour in certain hot spot areas across the force’s Northern Command area, specifically Carlisle city centre, and also assists with crowd control on match days.

  A BSIA member has reported that its remotely monitored, detector activated, CCTV service, which provides vital out-of-hours protection for a builders merchant has reduced theft at the site by an impressive 80 per cent since it’s gone live.

  When Weston Hills School moved to a new state of the art building, their governing county council decided that a CCTV system was needed. The council’s original brief was for a cost-effective system, which was monitored and recorded onto a digital recorder at the school.

  In a trial of mobile digital CCTV recorders in the Netherlands by NS (Netherlands Railways) on eight Sprinter trains on the Zoetermeer Stadslijn (City Line), it was found that 60% of commuter train passengers felt safer with digital recorders and cameras installed.
