CTP Qualifications
The Careers Transition Partnership (CTP) trains service leavers in a breadth of different security industry disciplines. The courses offered are outlined below:
Security Systems Installation (Foundation)
Provides the individual with the underpinning electrical knowledge and installation techniques common to all disciplines of electronic security installation and maintenance.
Course content
H&S at work, basic electrical principles, use of multimeters & electrical test equipment, electrical/electronic components, types of cable and their installation, mechanical protection of cables, installation of fused spurs in accordance with BS:7671, soldering/de-soldering techniques and projects, interpersonal skills and care and use of hand tools

Security Systems Installation (Basic Intruder Alarms)
Provide individuals with the technical knowledge, the practical knowledge and practical skills for the installation, servicing and maintenance of basic intruder alarm systems.
Course content
Intruder alarm circuitry, mechanical detection devices, electronic detection services, control equipment, introduction to remote signalling devices, warning devices, EN50131-1, surveying, trade bodies & associations, planning installation work, maintenance of intruder alarm systems

Security Systems Installation (Advanced Intruder Alarms)
Provide individuals with the technical knowledge, the practical knowledge and the practical skills for the installation, servicing and maintenance of commercial intruder alarm systems with remote signalling and alarm verification.
Course content
Class 6 wirefree alarm systems - BS:6799, high security intruder alarm systems – BS:7042, continuously wired detection circuits, installation and commissioning of remote signalling devices, alarm verification technology and its ACPO Policy on intruder alarms.
Application, multiplexed and addressable alarm, up and downloading systems, faultfinding and maintenance of commercial intruder alarm systems, new legislation, codes of practice and equipment development, measure of achievement.

Security Systems Installation (Access Control and CCTV)
Provide individuals with the technical knowledge, the practical knowledge and practical skills required for the installation, servicing and maintenance of basic access control and CCTV systems.
Basic access control equipment, basic access control reading devices, basic access control principles, electronic locks and releases, audio and audio visual door entry equipment, basic CCTV control equipment, cameras and monitors, signalling equipment, ancillary devices, surveying, planning/installation work, fault finding & maintenance of access, control and CCTV systems, trade bodies and associations, measure of achievement.

The course covers a range of topics required by Skills for Security and the City & Guilds awarding body.

Certified Security Consultant
The course is a four week full time course, divided into two week modules plus a six month distance learning between modules.
