Joining the BSIA's Access and Asset Protection Section
Companies wishing to join the BSIA's Access and Asset Protection Section must meet the following criteria in order to be admitted to the section:
Access & Asset Protection Section Criteria
Access and Asset Protection – Installer/Maintainer – A Company engaged in the installation and/or maintenance of security equipment to prevent or control access, by physical and/or electronic means, to property and assets. The company shall be able to demonstrate that either 90% of their turnover is derived from security related installation and/or maintenance work or that the turnover derived from such work is not less than £500,000.
Access and Asset Protection – Supplier or Distributor – A company supplying but not installing equipment intended to prevent or control access, by physical and/or electronic means, to property and assets. A manufacturer of such equipment may not have 50% or more of the equity of such a company.
Access and Asset Protection – Manufacturer – A company engaged in the manufacture and/or assembly of equipment intended to prevent or control access, by physical and/or electronic means, to property and assets and having a registered office in the UK. The company shall manufacture or assemble equipment in the UK and/or possess UK based design and development facilities or full customer services/warranty facilities within the UK.
Access and Asset Protection – Consultancy – A company offering consultancy services including subjects relevant to the section. The company shall hold principal membership of the BSIA by membership of the Specialist Services Section.
Access and Asset Protection Section ISO 9001 Accreditation
In accordance with clause 2.3 of the Model Section Rules of the Association, membership of the Access & Asset Protection Section is conditional on the Operating Board being satisfied that the member has the relevant ISO 9001 accreditation. The use of BS 7858 - 'security screening of individuals employed in a security environment' may be appropriate (see paragraph below)
Access and Asset Protection Section Employee Screening and Training
In accordance with clause 2.7 of the Model Rules for Sections of the BSIA, members should ensure that all employees whose employment may involve them in the acquisition of, or access to, knowledge of a confidential nature, improper use of which could involve the member, any client of the member or a third party in a security risk shall be screened prior to employment with the object of ascertaining, by examination of prospective employees' background, that they are of good character.
Members shall ensure that all staff receive adequate and regular training
