Penumbra is an innovative leading Scottish voluntary organisation in the field of mental health, and provides an extensive range of person-centred services for adults and young people throughout Scotland. Following internal risk assessment, it was decided that a formal system was required to manage the risk identified and ensure the safety of lone working staff. In 2002, a lone working system was piloted, and subsequently rolled out across the organisation.

Argyll are delivering a contract for more than sixteen hundred Identicom devices aimed at NHS Lone Workers operating in the South of Tyne and Wear area. This contract represents the largest deployment of Lone Worker devices and services within the NHS to date.

Argyll provides lone worker services for Marie Curie Cancer Care

Established in 1948, Marie Curie Cancer Care now employs nurses, doctors and other healthcare professionals, dedicated to maximising the quality of life for cancer patients throughout the UK. While the charity is best known for its network of Marie Curie nurses providing free nursing care in the community, it also has ten hospices and two centres for palliative care research as well as the world-renowned Marie Curie Research Institute which investigates the causes and treatments of cancer. In order to ensure they provide the best possible care, Marie Curie have now developed a new model of Rapid Response teams which can carry out planned and urgent trips to the homes of people with cancer and other terminal illnesses, to offer expert care during out-of-hours periods.
