Don Robins – Chairman of the Information Destruction Section

Don Robins is the Managing Director and co-founder of Printwaste Recycling & Shredding. Established in 1983 to collect waste paper from local printers, in the early 1990s Don recognised that the change in public attitude towards a ‘green agenda’ was impacting on the commercial and business sectors, which  led Printwaste to a major expansion of its recycling service. The decade heralded the introduction of the Data Protection Act and the growing concern of data security to business and industry; Printwaste embraced this, becoming a specialist service provider in data destruction and shredding.

Don has been an active member of the Information Destruction Section since Printwaste joined the Association in 2002, being heavily involved in writing EN15713, the European standard for the destruction of confidential material and developing the sector’s National Occupational Standards (NOS’).

Don was elected Chairman of the ID Section in July 2016. Don is also a non-executive Director of the Association, representing the Information Destruction Section at Board level and providing oversight to the Executive Board.
