A unique partnership between G4S, the police and SaferCash is cutting crime and protecting cash couriers.

Cash transportation is essential to the economy and the vast majority of businesses could not function without it, but as this attack - just one of many - shows; delivering cash can be a very dangerous business. Attacks have reduced considerably over the last decade; in 2009 there were 1060 offences, compared to an average of 200 offences in recent years, however 2017 saw the first increase in offences since 2009.

Fly-tipping is on the rise, with vacant sites being prime targets

The number of incidents has increased for the third year in a row.

Many asset owners will already be aware of the devastating effects that vandalism and arson can have on a business, as it is expensive and time-consuming to deal with these. Deterring such crimes is difficult, however, as most vandalism, including graffiti and arson, occurs at night and on weekends when sites or properties are vacant. Fly-tipping is also on the rise, with vacant sites being prime targets. The number of incidents has increased for the third year in a row: councils across England and Wales reported 936,090 cases in 2015–16, up 4% on the previous year.

BT has announced its plans to transition to an ALL IP digital platform over the coming years and expects to complete the change by 2025. In particular BT has been seeking a way to identify its consumers who have a ‘special service’ (such as an alarm or telecare service) operating within their premises, as this may be impacted by the change to ALL IP.
