The PSTN Switch-off...

Communications Providers are currently upgrading their customers from the existing analogue PSTN network to new IP-based services. Telephone sockets are being replaced with Smart Routers to support better the demands of today’s consumers, their smart devices, apps and the Internet of Things (IoT). This means PSTN-based alarms will fail and need to be upgraded.

The change will affect anything plugging into the existing analogue telephone wall sockets, including Fire & Security signalling systems, Telecare Dispersed Alarms and Lift Alarms. The project is well underway and the impact is already being seen at premises nationwide.
