Form 373 - Guidance for the Prevention and Reduction of Dual Path Alarm Transmission Failures

A potential issue was raised at the NPCC SSG (National Police Chiefs Council Security Systems Group) meeting in 2024 by police representatives, regarding a significant increase in false alarms due to Dual Path ATS (Alarm Transmission System) failures.

This concern was echoed by ARC (Alarm Receiving Centre) representatives and inspectorates at the meeting, leading to the formation of a BSIA SIG (Special Interest Group).

The SIG included BSIA members, NPCC SSG, NSI & SSAIB inspectorates, and RISCAuthority Insurance Group representation, with approximately 20 attendees participating in several meetings to produce this industry guidance document.

As a result, the NPCC plan to reference this guidance in Appendix S – “Requirements for Security System Services” of the NPCC Requirements document for April 2025.
