Marlowe, a specialist provider of fire & security and environmental services, officially became a part of Mitie Group this week, boosting the latter’s capabilities in Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) services across fire safety, security systems, water and air hygiene, and asbestos management.
The £350 million deal will also see around 2,700 new employees added to Mitie’s 76,000-strong workforce.
Mitie chief executive, Phil Bentley, said: “I’m delighted to welcome our new Marlowe colleagues and customers to Mitie. Together, we’re creating a powerhouse in facilities compliance – combining deep expertise, national reach, and a shared commitment to excellence in compliance.
“This marks a major milestone in our journey from being the UK leader in facilities management to the leader in technology and project-led facilities transformation and, from today, a leader in facilities compliance.”
Mitie Group recently announced a solid start to its fiscal year, with a 10.1 per cent increase in revenue for the first quarter, reaching £1.2 billion, underpinned by a £29 billion pipeline of work.
And while its growth had primarily been driven organically, recent mergers and acquisitions accounted for an additional 2.1 per cent of inorganic growth, driven by deals with Argus Fire, ESM Power, and Grupo Visegurity, all of which it said are performing well.
Looking to 2027, Mitie’s strategic focus is on AI and intelligent process automation, supporting an expected operating margin above 5 per cent. This will be underpinned by higher margin merger and acquisition opportunities in its targeted sectors, including in power & grid connections, renewable energy, data centres, fire & security, and sustainability.
The acquisition of Interserve established Mitie as the UK’s largest facilities management provider.
“The addition of Marlowe’s specialist capabilities in fire & security and environmental services marks the next chapter – positioning Mitie as a leader in facilities compliance, strengthening Mitie’s ability to deliver safe, efficient, and high-performing buildings across the UK, while supporting customers to navigate increasingly complex regulatory demands,” said Mitie
“Increasing legislative requirements including new fire safety regulations, enhanced security standards and evolving environmental mandates have increased demand for robust compliance solutions.”
