S12 Members attend the SIA Stakeholder Forum

On 5 November, S12 Members, including the BSIA's John MacAskill, attended the Security Industry Authority Stakeholder Forum. As S12 lead, and BSIA member Paul Howe, was welcomed to the forum and going forward will ensure the S12 provides input and feedback alongside the following trade associations / industry groups:

- The City Security Council
- The Network
- United Kingdom Crowd Management Association
- International Professional Security Association (IPSA)
- British Security Industry Association (BSIA)
- Security Skills Board
- Night Time Industries Association
- The UK Security Commonwealth
- The Security Institute
- Business Standards Special Interest Group
- ASIS International

During the in-person meeting we heard from the following key people at the Security Industry Authority:

- Heather Baily QPM - Chair
- Michelle Russell - Chief Executive
- Tim Archer - Director of Licensing and Business Standards
- Pete E. - Interim Director of Enforcement and Inspections
- Debbie Bartlett - Chief Operating Officer
- Alero Harrison - Head of Communications

The topics covered were, and we are pleased to confirm the SIA have agreed to publish an industry-wide summary of the meeting points that can be shared publicly:

- SIA Future Priorities
- SIA Corporate Plan (2026-2029)
- Appointment Process for new SIA Chair
- Review of "Get Licensed" criminality and background checks
- Launch of Strategic Qualifications / Training review
- Update on Operational Resolute (Training Malpractice)
- Consideration future enforcement powers
- United for Public Trust perceptions campaign and industry wide survey

The meeting covered significant ground it is clear to see the good work being done by all to align and move the sector forward.
