After a successful two and a half years as General Manager, Dr Rod Wilson has taken the decision to retire to spend more time with his family, the French horn and following his beloved Manchester City. Rod has been succeeded at GJD by industry veteran Michael (Mick) Dunne.

GJD is an industry leader in the design, manufacture, and supply of professional external detector equipment in the UK. Including detectors, illuminators, lasers and an innovative LoRa wireless system.
Mick has over 35 years of experience in the security industry, working in various senior leadership roles, including Managing Director of both Authorised Access Systems Ltd and Safecell Security Limited. Mick possesses expertise in sales, technical advice to engineers, procurement of suppliers, as well as compliance and accreditation.
Discussing what he will bring to the role, Mick tells us: “Throughout my career, I have focused on driving operational excellence, mentoring teams, and delivering customer-focused solutions. At GJD, I look forward to supporting the established and highly skilled team already in place, ensuring we continue to build on the company’s strong foundations and deliver strategic growth.”
After selling his business to a PLC in 2023, Mick has spent the last couple of years supporting the industry he is passionate about by sharing his experience and knowledge with the new generation of engineers and start-ups entering the security sector.
Seeing the opportunity and potential that GJD offers, Mick has taken the opportunity to drive GJD through its next period of growth, driven through innovation, improved processes, and further strengthening key business relationships.
