The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act received Royal Assent on 3 April 2025. The Act aims to improve organisational preparedness and protective security across the UK. It requires certain premises and events to take reasonably practicable steps to prepare for potential terrorist attacks and to help keep people safe in the event of an attack. In addition, certain larger premises and events must also take reasonably practicable steps to reduce their vulnerability to acts of terrorism. The Government intends for there to be an implementation period of at least 24 months from the date of Royal Assent before the Act comes into force.
Section 27 statutory guidance, available here, will support those responsible for premises and events in scope to understand the requirements set out in the legislation, and was published by the Home Office on 15 April 2026. Additionally, draft section 12 guidance was published alongside a public consultation by the Security Industry Authority (SIA) this April. This guidance explores how the SIA will carry out its functions as the regulator of Martyn’s Law and the consultation will remain open until Friday 12th June.
The Martyn’s Law Roadshows will take place across the UK this autumn and provide an opportunity to hear from the Home Office, SIA and our protective security partners about the latest updates on implementation. Discussion will centre around the scope and requirements of the legislation, enforcement, guidance and key concepts from the Act. There will also be an opportunity to consider the wider non-legislative protective security landscape to further support education and awareness. The intended audience for the Martyn’s Law Roadshows is individuals who oversee premises or events which will fall under the scope of the Act. Applicants will be asked to confirm that they meet this eligibility criteria as part of the application process.
The Roadshows will take place throughout September and October 2026 at various locations across the UK and will be in-person only. They will run from approximately 10:00am until 3:00pm and include a break for lunch which will be provided. Whilst the Roadshows are unable to be delivered virtually, the team continue to engage via regular webinars for sectors in scope. If you are unable to attend a Roadshow, but would like to attend a webinar, please contact the Martyn’s Law team at Martynslaw@homeoffice.gov.uk.
The following application form will collect applicant details and help us to ensure that any applicants meet the eligibility criteria for attending a Roadshow. As we anticipate high demand, we will randomly select eligible applicants. For awareness, light touch due diligence will be carried out by Home Office staff to ensure applicant eligibility, which may involve searches on public social media, which could affect the outcome of your application. This is necessary to ensure that the intended audience are invited to participate in these Roadshows. The application form link will close on 17/08/2026.
Applicants will be informed and given further details if their application is successful and should expect to hear back in early September with confirmation and location details. If an applicant does not hear back from us, they have unfortunately been unsuccessful in securing a place at the Roadshows.
All personal data collected as part of the application process will be securely stored and processed. Applicants are welcome to request the deletion of any personal data at any time and can do so by contacting MartynsLaw@homeoffice.gov.uk.
We request that these Roadshows are not publicised on social media, in order to manage demand. Please only share this invitation to apply through your member forums or email distribution lists.
