FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – 6 July 2026

Members of UK security came together in London on Saturday 4 July to take part in Pride in London 2026, demonstrating a shared commitment to diversity, inclusion and equality across the sector.

Coordinated under the banner of the UK Security Commonwealth, the initiative brought together security professionals from across the industry, including representatives from a range of industry bodies, including ASIS International UK, British Security Industry Association (BSIA), The City Security Council, Safer Business Network, and the Women in Security Enterprise. Participants gathered in Hyde Park before joining the Pride in London parade through the capital.

The collective presence at Pride reflected the growing emphasis being placed across the security profession on creating a more inclusive industry that welcomes people from all backgrounds. Organisers highlighted that the event was not only an opportunity to celebrate LGBTQIA+ colleagues and allies, but also to demonstrate the sector's ongoing efforts to foster workplaces where individuals can bring their authentic selves to work and thrive professionally.

Jayne King, Immediate Past Chair of the UK Security Commonwealth, said: “We witnessed the largest gathering of security colleagues coming together to celebrate Pride in London. Pride is about visibility, allyship, and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to be their authentic self. It was an absolute honour to walk alongside so many incredible people that joined us, showing that our industry is stronger when everyone feels seen, valued, and included.

It was an emotional and unforgettable experience, and I already cannot wait for us to do it all again in 2027.”

On their participation, Farah Benis, Chair of ASIS UK, said: As a member of the UK Security Commonwealth, ASIS UK is proud to support initiatives like this. Security is, at its heart, about creating environments where everyone can feel safe, respected, and able to be themselves. It was fantastic to stand alongside colleagues from across our profession to demonstrate that inclusion isnt separate from security – its fundamental to it.”

Jenni Jetzer, Chair of the People Board for City Security Council, said: “The City Security Council was proud to stand united with colleagues from across the UK Security Commonwealth at Pride in London. Pride is a celebration of community, belonging and the joy that comes from being able to bring your authentic self to work and to life. Seeing so many organisations come together in support of our LGBTQIA+ colleagues and allies was a powerful reminder that, while we may represent different parts of the security sector, we are stronger when we stand together.”

The UK Security Commonwealth has continued to champion collaboration between security organisations on issues that affect the sector. Participation in Pride in London forms part of wider engagement around diversity, equity and inclusion, encouraging greater visibility, understanding and representation across the security community.

Emma Harris, Co-Founder of the Women in Security Enterprise, said: Pride is one of many ways that the security sector can be involved in equality, diversity, and inclusion initiatives. The Women in Security Enterprise were proud to support Pride in London with peers across the industry, championing our LGBTQ+ colleagues and allies and celebrating a sector that welcoming to all.”

Eren Bessim, Training and Development Manager of Safer Business Network, said: What was really shown this weekend was the power of people and organisations coming together. Pride is about celebrating diversity, inclusion and community, and it was fantastic to see so many organisations standing side-by-side in support of the LGBTQ+ community. At Safer Business Network, were proud to be part of that, helping build safer, stronger communities and businesses where everyone feels welcome, respected and valued.”

Chelsea Peplow, Senior Marketing and Communications Executive at the British Security Industry Association (BSIA), said: The BSIA is proud to stand alongside our friends across the UK Security Commonwealth to support Pride in London. Pride provides an important opportunity to celebrate the contributions of LGBTQIA+ security professionals and show the next generation of talent that the security sector is a place where they can build rewarding careers, regardless of their background or identity.”

As the security industry continues to evolve, initiatives such as Pride in London provide an important platform for organisations to engage with colleagues, partners and the wider public, reinforcing a collective commitment to building a professional, representative and inclusive sector for future generations.
