Green Power Solutions, developer of remote asset-monitoring platform TrackSyte®, has been awarded an 18-month contract for a co-funded project under the European Space Agency’s Business Applications and Space Solutions (BASS) programme.
The project, Smart Ops, will examine how machine learning and satellite positioning data can help operations teams identify maintenance needs earlier, prioritise equipment issues and, when a site visit is required, help dispatch the nearest suitably qualified engineer.
For security operators managing off-grid equipment across dispersed sites, the project has particular relevance to maintaining mobile surveillance towers and other temporary security assets. Keeping this equipment operational requires visibility of its power performance, condition and location, alongside effective planning of maintenance visits.
TrackSyte® provides this visibility through a remote asset-monitoring platform designed to help customers work by exception rather than assumption. Smart Ops will explore how the information already available through the platform can support earlier intervention and better maintenance decisions.
The aim is to help operators reduce avoidable journeys, use engineering resources more effectively and support reliable equipment operation.
Sam Taylor, Chief Executive Officer of Green Power Solutions, said: “Security operators need confidence that their remote equipment will remain operational, particularly when assets are spread across sites and depend on off-grid power.
“Through Smart Ops, we will explore how satellite positioning data and machine learning can build on the information available through TrackSyte to help teams identify where attention is needed and plan their response.
“Ultimately, it is about giving customers the confidence to send engineers out when they are needed, with the right information to deal with the issue. That could mean less time on the road, fewer unnecessary visits and more reliable operation of the equipment customers depend on.”
The project is now underway, with its findings informing the continued development of TrackSyte®.
