BSIA Launching Mental Health First Aid training from November 2026

Saturday 10 October is World Mental Health Day and this year’s theme is "Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change".

To support this event, the BSIA is delighted to announce they are launching Mental Health First Aid training with the first course being hosted on 26-27 November 2026.

This in-person, interactive two-day course, which is hosted at BSIA HQ in Worcester, provides delegates with an understanding of mental health, helping organisations create safer and supportive environments for their employees. 

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an internationally recognized training program that teaches people how to spot the signs of mental ill health, start supportive conversations, and guide individuals toward professional help.

What MHFA Involves:

  • Sign Recognition: Identifying early symptoms of common mental health conditions like depression, anxiety, and distress.
  • The ALGEE Action Plan: Learning a practical 5-step framework to Approach, Listen non-judgmentally, Give support/information, Encourage professional help, and Encourage other support systems.
  • Crisis Response: Offering immediate help during critical situations, such as panic attacks or severe emotional distress.
  • Signposting: Directing people safely to professional services, specialized charities, or internal workplace resources.

Key Outcomes from the training:

  •       The key aims of each session is candidate safety & comfort recognising occupational knowledge and challenges.
  •        Ground rules for each section ensure that sensitive or confronting topic can be explored with care.
  •        The content is delivered with a range of teaching aids and media presentations.
  •        Each candidate has the MHFA app for extra content and the MHFA candidate manual.

The two-day course is £175 (exc VAT) for BSIA members and £300 (exc VAT) for non members and includes lunch and refreshments.
