BSIA Members: Pledge a Work Experience Placement Today

Thursday 05 November 2026 - BSIA Comms

The Security Industry Needs Its Next Generation. Let’s Help Build It.

Give a young person their first experience of the professional security industry and help showcase the careers, skills and opportunities our sector has to offer.

The Government’s National Work Experience Mission is calling on employers to help create 200,000 work experience opportunities for young people aged 14–16.

Working with The Careers & Enterprise Company and the national network of Careers Hubs, the initiative is encouraging employers to open their doors and give young people the opportunity to experience the world of work, build confidence and essential skills, and explore future careers.

The security industry should be part of this

For BSIA members, this is about much more than providing a week of work experience.

Our industry needs its next generation of talent.

This is an opportunity to introduce young people to the breadth of careers available across professional security and show them an industry they may never previously have considered. A placement could provide an introduction to areas such as:

  • Security engineering and technology
  • Cyber security and digital systems
  • Manufacturing and product development
  • Monitoring and control rooms
  • Installation and service
  • Security management and operations
  • Sales and marketing
  • HR, finance and business administration

Participating employers will be connected with their local Careers Hub, which can help turn pledges into meaningful opportunities and provide practical support and resources for delivering high-quality workplace experiences.

We’re asking BSIA members to step forward

Whether your business can provide one placement, ten placements or many more, every opportunity matters.

Collectively, BSIA members have an opportunity to demonstrate the professional security industry’s commitment to young people, skills and developing our future workforce. The Government will be highlighting progress towards its 200,000-opportunity ambition and recognising employers that step forward and make a contribution.

Make your pledge today

Step 1: Pledge your places

Tell the campaign how many work experience opportunities your organisation can offer and where they could be delivered.
