Two decades on and manned guarding remains at the heart of SGS’s services, whilst the company has evolved into a national security partner, blending people with innovation to protect businesses, communities, and critical services across the UK. With head offices in Manchester and Essex.
With family members leading the way bringing decades of security and technology experience, alongside external industry leaders, SGS benefits from both continuity and professional insight. Alongside founder and CEO Zafar Choudhry, his brothers Shahid Chaudhry (Chief Operating Director) and Zahid Chaudhry (Director of Compliance & Innovations), complemented by Rob Whiffing Group Managing Director, who has brought valuable external experience to SGS for more than seven years.

While guarding has always been the cornerstone of SGS, the company has consistently invested in innovation to strengthen its teams and clients. The launch of Skye Guarding, a rapid-response division, and the development of proprietary platforms such as MiSentinel for workforce management, MiFamily Alert for personal safety, MiPeople for recruitment and screening, and MiSentinelSOS for individual safety reflect how SGS combines human presence with digital tools for stronger protection. This adaptability proved vital during defining challenges such as the 2007–2008 recession and the Covid-19 pandemic, which tested the resilience of both the business and the wider industry. During Covid, SGS not only secured government designated quarantine centres but also supported organisations across key sectors by rapidly deploying officers to cover critical staff shortages. The timely launch of Skye Guarding enabled urgent deployments with rapid response times, while early investment in technology platforms ensured compliance, operational oversight, and consistently high service standards even under immense pressure.
Looking ahead, SGS is focused on strengthening its guarding services and expanding its presence across the UK, with particular emphasis on the Construction and Manufacturing sectors. These industries require dependable security to safeguard high-value sites, protect people, and prevent costly disruptions. By building specialist expertise in these areas, SGS delivers tailored solutions that reduce risk and support the delivery of complex projects.
