The British Security Industry Association, the trade association for the professional security industry in the UK is looking for a Technical Officer to join our professional team!

An exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-motivated technical professional to join our well-established trade association representing the UK’s private security industry.

As part of a dedicated team and reporting to the Technical Manager, you will use your security industry experience and/or professional qualification to provide a high-quality service to our members on a wide range of technical issues relating to electronic alarms systems, physical security and security officer services.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting BSIA member companies at our sector, technical and special interest group meetings.
  • Developing and vetting security industry guides, codes of practice and standards at UK and international levels.
  • Representing the BSIA on selected technical working groups such as industry stakeholders and standards bodies both in and occasionally outside the UK.
  • Liaising with, and visiting members to provide advice and support on technical issues, policies and regulatory matters that affect their businesses.
  • Supporting industry events, exhibitions, seminar/webinars and promoting the good work of the BSIA.

While appropriate training will be provided, it is essential that the candidate has the ability to work on their own initiative and communicate effectively at all levels. Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task will be key to ensuring the expectations of our members are met.

For the right candidate, the role will offer a real opportunity to take responsibility for some exciting projects and developments that take place in the converging world of security and to be able to promote further the excellent work of our team and that of the BSIA.

Excellent working conditions and remuneration package including contributory pension, life assurance and 25 days holiday await the ideal candidate. This is a permanent and full time position, working remotely with visits to our Worcester offices as required, home location is flexible.
