S12 Security Guarding Leadership Group Announce Strategic Objectives

Tuesday 24 February 2026 - BSIA Comms

Members of the S12 recently came together for a very productive strategy day where we took the opportunity to review our first quarter.

It was clear we are all determined that the S12 cannot - and should not - be a talking shop. It must deliver real outcomes for the industry.

On that basis, we’ve taken everything we’ve learned so far from hundreds of conversations, emails, comments, meetings, survey responses etc, and honed the S12 priorities.

These are listed below. We are now in the process of assigning what we feel are deliverable actions and outcomes to each of these priorities, which we’ll share soon.

Our strength will be in numbers. We want as many voices in the mix as possible, so if you see something here you’re passionate about, please visit our workstreams webpage and register. You’ll be asked to attend one virtual meeting per month, with the occasional action to take away.

* Labour Exploitation: The risks - moral, legal, and ethical - are simply too great for anyone to turn a blind eye. We must all do more.

* Mandatory Business Licensing (MBL/BAS): Our position is clear in support of MBL, ending the in?house exemption is unequivocal.

* Lobbying to Make Assault a Criminal Offence: We continue to lobby for a criminal offence for assaults against SIA?licensed security officers. It costs nothing to endorse this measure, but it protects the very people keeping our communities safe.

* Integrated Policing & Private Security Initiative: Demonstrating the art of the possible.

* Non?ACS Workstream: Ensuring all voices across the sector are heard.

* Skills, Standards & Professionalism: Supporting career pathways and elevating standards across the profession.

* Training & Assessment Malpractice: Addressing one of the most significant risks in the private security industry.

* Vetting & Digital Transformation: Exploring opportunities to modernise, raise standards, and enhance public safety.

* Martyn’s Law: S12 will support government, regulators, and industry through the implementation of this key piece of legislation.

Other important issues, such as equality, diversity and inclusion, and public perceptions of the sector, will be at the heart of everything we do.
